Crows have an ability that was thought to be unique to humans

Ravens turned out to have a skill that was believed to exist only in humans and allows them to formulate complex sentences. This conclusion was made by scientists from the University of Tubineng.
In the course of the experiment, the biologists suggested that the crows lay out a chain of “opening” and “closing” brackets of various shapes so that each pair was inside the next. The crows performed better than the monkeys in previous similar experiments, and, unlike the monkeys, they did not require special training for this.
According to biologists, two interpretations of the results are possible – either this skill, called “grammatical recursion”, was formed independently in humans and crows, or its foundations were laid by evolution during the time of the common ancestors of modern mammals and birds.
The scientists presented the results of the experiment with crows in the journal Science Advances.
