The pilot of the attacked Su-25 was presented with an award for courage

The pilot who flew the Su-25 attack aircraft on May 23 and came under attack by MANPADS [переносных зенитных ракетных комплексов]presented to the award for courage and bravery, reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Defense Ministry clarified that this week an attack aircraft under the control of a Su-25 aviation squadron commander was attacked by enemy MANPADS when it returned after successfully completing a combat mission. The pilot was able to stabilize the damaged aircraft and land at the nearest airfield. The Ministry of Defense did not say where exactly the attack took place. The military man was presented with the Order of Courage “for courage and courage shown in the performance of military duty.”

The servicemen of the Black Sea Fleet were also presented for military state awards, who destroyed unmanned boats that participated in the attack on the reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs. According to the Ministry of Defense, they “timely detected high-speed targets approaching the Russian ship, and at the command of the commander of the ship, Captain 3rd Rank Igor Taran, they destroyed unmanned boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a safe distance with fire from standard weapons.”

On May 24, the ministry announced the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attempt to attack the Ivan Khurs ship. According to the ministry, Ukraine tried to attack the ship with three unmanned speedboats, but to no avail. The ship performed the tasks of “ensuring the safety of the operation of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Turkey.”
