The Pentagon clarified the timing of training Ukrainian pilots to operate the F-16

It will take about six to nine months to train Ukrainian military pilots to operate the American F-16 fighter jets, which Kyiv is awaiting delivery of. General David Alvin, a candidate for the post of Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, spoke about this on Tuesday, September 12.
A representative of the US Department of Defense clarified that on average, the pilot training course to fly the F-16 takes about six months, but “it is obvious that each student differs in their level of knowledge and the pace of mastering the course.”
Accordingly, if training for pilots of the Ukrainian army began in October, training would be completed in the early spring of 2024, General Alvin noted.
American authorities have agreed with Denmark and the Netherlands to transfer the F-16 fighter jets at their disposal to Ukraine. According to sources, combat aircraft may arrive in Kyiv already in February 2024.
However, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that this step would not change anything during the fighting, and will only prolong the conflict. The politician recalled that the election process will begin in Ukraine in November, and therefore the Kiev regime needs to demonstrate to its Western allies at least some result – thereby pushing the Ukrainians to continue hostilities at all costs.
