MFA: Russia at the G20 summit confirmed plans to remain a guarantor of fertilizer supplies

At the G20 summit held in India, Russia confirmed its readiness to continue to remain a guarantor of food and fertilizer supplies, the statement says. comments Russian Foreign Ministry following the meeting.

“The Russian side confirmed its intention to remain the guarantor of food supplies, fertilizers and energy, and to increase economic cooperation with friendly partners from among the countries of the world majority, especially through the EAEU, BRICS, SCO, ASEAN,” the statement says.

The ministry noted that the G20 members managed to agree on the final declaration of the summit, which reflected agreements on food, climate and energy issues, the need for reform of international financial institutions, digital transformation and macroeconomic policy. In addition, Russia considers the decision to include the African Union among the permanent members of the G20 historic.

“An important achievement was the specific tasks set in the interests of the countries of the Global South. They relate to increasing the weight of developing countries in global economic governance,” the Foreign Ministry added.

The ministry also reiterated that Russia, together with the BRICS countries, managed to thwart Western attempts to “Ukrainize” the work of the summit. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov previously noted that the Ukrainian crisis is mentioned in the text of the declaration, “but exclusively in the context of the need to resolve all conflicts that exist in the world.”

The G20 meeting was held in New Delhi on September 9-10. The representative of the Russian President in the G20, Svetlana Lukash, told reporters that the summit in India was one of the most difficult in the entire history of the group, but the collective position of the BRICS countries worked. According to her, this is due not only to disagreements on the Ukrainian topic, but also to differences in positions on all key issues – primarily on the topic of climate change and the transition to low-carbon energy systems.
