On Monday, the Basmanny District Court of the capital considered a petition to extend the detention of 35-year-old general director of the Soyuz company Alexander Kim and digger Nikita Dubas, accused of organizing a tour of the Neglinka River collector, which cost the lives of the guide and 7 tourists. Let us remind you that both defendants in the case were taken into custody on August 23, two days after the tragedy.
Nikita Dubas came to the meeting wearing a sweatshirt with the inscription “Everything is very cool,” but looked rather gloomy. Alexander Kim, on the contrary, seemed to be in a good mood. His wife came to support him.
Kim’s defenders petitioned to replace his detention in a pre-trial detention center with house arrest, even challenging the legality of his detention. They provided a certificate confirming that his wife had enough funds in her account to post bail. They also provided several positive characteristics of the accused.
In addition, the lawyer stated that Kim never communicated with any of the witnesses in the case. He also does not know Dubas and has not communicated. Kim has no criminal record, has never committed a crime or misdemeanor, and investigators have no reason to suspect him of planning to break the law in the future.
Alexander Kim emphasized in his speech that he cooperated with the investigation from the very beginning.
The prosecution justified the need to keep Kim in custody, in particular, by the fact that Kim is a citizen of Kazakhstan and can escape. Let us remind you that immediately after the tragedy, another accused, Lazovsky, fled, presumably to the UAE. The other day, the court decided to arrest him in absentia. Both entrepreneurs are accused of organizing the sale of tickets for a dangerous excursion into underground sewers, where access to unauthorized persons is prohibited.
As a result, the court extended the arrest of both until January 21.
