The opening of the All-Russian competition in Greco-Roman wrestling took place in Ryazan

On February 18, Ryazan hosted the opening of the 50th All-Russian wrestling competition in the discipline of Greco-Roman wrestling, dedicated to the memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Poletaev, as well as the open All-Russian wrestling competitions in the discipline of Greco-Roman wrestling among veterans, dedicated to the Day of the Defender Fatherland.
The event was attended by Kirill Sosunov, Head of the Sports Department of the City Hall, Valery Khabarov, President of the Ryazan Wrestling Federation, Alexei Glushkov, Sydney Olympic Bronze Medalist, Vadim Makarov, First Vice President of the Wrestling Federation, Vladimir Burmistrov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mother’s Heart Charitable Foundation, and also Representatives of the delegation from China LI HUA, Jiang Yanbin and Vice Chairman of the Healthy Lifestyle Council from the Chinese side under the Chinese-Russian Committee for World Friendship and the Development of a Healthy Lifestyle Yan Bin.
“We believe that honoring the memory of our hero ancestors is a paramount task. Now our country is in a difficult state, a new threat is looming, and the Mother’s Heart Foundation is currently paying great attention to patriotic education. This tournament is designed to show our unity and friendship of fraternal peoples,” said Vladimir Burmistrov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mother’s Heart Charitable Foundation.
More than 300 athletes from national teams from Moscow, Leningrad, Ryazan and other regions, as well as teams from Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Serbia take part in the tournament.
According to the results of the first day of the competition, the 1st place in the overall team standings among veterans was taken by the combined team of the Rostov region.
