Billionaire Alexey Shepel, who caused a major accident in the west of Moscow two years ago, intends to appeal the verdict, which he considers unfair. As a result of the accident, the culprit himself and three other people were injured, one of whom subsequently died.

Let us remind you that the tragedy occurred on February 8, 2022 on Rublevskoye Highway. The head of a large construction corporation, Alexey Shepel, lost control of his Mercedes and collided with cars driving ahead. As a result of the accident, 9 cars were damaged. The oligarch later stated that he lost consciousness while driving.

Immediately after the accident, the court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of a ban on certain actions. Shepel was not supposed to leave his place of residence from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., travel outside the capital region, communicate with victims and witnesses, use the Internet, or drive a car.

On March 26, the Dorogomilovsky District Court sentenced the businessman to 3.5 years in a penal colony. After serving his sentence for 2.5 years, he will not have to drive. In addition, he will have to pay damages in the amount of three million rubles and compensation for moral damage – that’s another two million.

However, the billionaire’s lawyers believe that the sentence is unfair and very harsh. They insist that the billionaire lost consciousness that day, so he is not the culprit, but a victim of circumstances. The verdict will be appealed to a higher authority.
