Famous chemist Ivan Martynov died in Chernogolovka near Moscow
The oldest corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a well-known chemist Ivan Vasilyevich Martynov, died on Wednesday night in his apartment in Chernogolovka near Moscow.
As it became known to MK, Martynov’s death occurred at about 3 o’clock in the morning. He died at the age of 104.
Ivan Martynov – Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the Lenin Prize, winner of many orders and medals. Participated in the Great Patriotic War in the chemical defense troops, was wounded. For many years he headed the Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology. His main work is related to synthetic organic chemistry. The institute, headed by Martynov, was one of the leaders in the development and production technologies of chemical weapons.
