A ceasefire and freezing of the conflict in Ukraine in the current alignment of forces will mean a victory for Russia. This was stated by adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak.
“In the current disposition, there can be no negotiation process. The status quo must be changed on the battlefield. This means… more weapons, missiles and aircraft,” Podolyak wrote on X (formerly Twitter). According to him, freezing the conflict would be “a defeat for the Western world and the end of the current global security order.”
On August 5-6, negotiations were held in Saudi Jeddah on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. At the meeting, Kyiv was supposed to present its “peace formula”. About 40 states took part in the meeting, but Russia was not at the meeting.
According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, not a single point of Ukraine’s proposals “is aimed at finding a negotiated and diplomatic solution to the crisis, and their totality is a senseless ultimatum to Russia.” On this basis, a peaceful settlement is impossible, she stressed.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously stated that with the participation of Kyiv and its current negotiating position, it is impossible to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflict, there are no prerequisites for this.
August 6 Kremlin representative confirmed newspaper The New York Times that there are no grounds for a peace agreement with Ukraine. Russia will continue the special operation for the foreseeable future, Peskov stressed.
