Dodon warned the Moldovan authorities about the cost of worsening relations with Russia

Further deterioration of Russian-Moldovan relations will lead to serious economic problems in Moldova. Such a warning was made on Monday, August 7, by former Moldovan President Igor Dodon.
The politician recalled that the Moldovan agro-industrial complex is 70% oriented to the markets of the CIS member countries, in particular, Russia, while “we have no other market that could consume the volumes that we produce.”
In addition, Chisinau’s decision to restrict entry to Russians could lead to a similar response from Russia, Dodon warned.
The ex-president of Moldova called the policy of the current authorities of the country destructive and pointed out that the citizens of the state had already felt it.
Earlier, Dodon, commenting on the plans of the Moldovan authorities to withdraw from the CIS, said that the leadership of Moldova is driven by unhealthy political ambitions that do not correspond to the interests of the republic. He also expressed hope that in Chisinau “they won’t have time to break what has been created over the years”.
In July, the Russian Foreign Ministry already warned about the consequences of Moldova’s unfriendly steps. In response to the decision of the Moldovan authorities to radically reduce the number of employees of Russian foreign missions in this country, Moldovan citizens restricted in receiving Russian consular services and in the possibility of maintaining cultural, educational, spiritual, business and human contacts with Russia.
