The number of victims of shawarma poisoning in the city of Lgov, Kursk region, has increased to 22 people, the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor reported.
The Rospotrebnadzor Department continues to investigate the epidemic case. As a result of studies carried out using PCR testing, staphylococcus was detected in the victims. In connection with this, the department suspended the activities of the Shawarma on Gagarin pavilion. Specialists also conduct unscheduled inspections and take a set of anti-epidemic measures.
Earlier, on the night of September 7, several people went to the emergency room with symptoms of an acute intestinal infection after eating shawarma. As a result of poisoning, a 23-year-old girl died from infectious-toxic shock.
The Department of the Investigative Committee for the Kursk Region opened a criminal case under the article “Production, storage, sale of goods and products that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of a person through negligence.”
