The number of families with three or more children has increased in Russia over the past five years by 27%, to 2.3 million, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. She cited these data during the presentation of the Year of the Family, held at the “Russia” forum at VDNKh.

According to Ms. Golikova, despite “demographic difficulties,” the number of third children in Russian families is increasing. She clarified that in general the number of children born increased by 30%.

“It has increased by 11% over the past five years, and the number of large families with three or more children is 2.3 million,” said the Deputy Prime Minister (quoted by TASS).

In November 2023, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on assignment 2024 is the year of the family. As Kommersant’s sources explained, the ideological lines of the upcoming presidential campaign include a special emphasis on family values.
