The number of HIV-infected people has sharply increased in Russia

For eight months of this year, the number of new HIV patients in the federal registry amounted to 40,000 people. This is reported RBCwith reference to Vadim Pokrovsky, Head of the Specialized Research Department of Epidemiology and Prevention of AIDS at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.

According to him, according to experts, by the end of the year the number of new patients may reach at least 60,000 people. Such growth is possible, among other things, at the expense of refugees and patients from regions that were annexed to Russia.

According to a preliminary estimate, which is based on the prevalence of this disease, the last component can be from 20 to 50 thousand people.
