In state medical institutions of Russia, the number of beds in 2022 decreased by 19,992 units. The reduction occurred due to hospitals in the regions. This was announced by Nadezhda Nesvetailo, Deputy Head of the Department of Statistics for Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Healthcare of the Ministry of Health, reports “Bear”.

Medical organizations subordinate to the subjects account for 94.3% of all reduced beds (18,851). A significant decrease in beds is observed in the Central (-3.1%) and Far Eastern Federal Districts (-2.5%). The smallest decrease was recorded in the Volga (-0.4%) and Southern Federal Districts (-0.8%).

In 2022, the bed occupancy rate in Russia was 284 days. The average number of beds per 10,000 people fell to 68.7 last year. In 2021, the figure was 69.7. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the figure was 70.3. Then in Russia there were 1.2 million beds.
