The American lunar module Nova-C could not withstand extremely low temperatures and stopped working, developer company Intuitive Machines reported. On March 1, it was put into sleep mode due to the onset of the lunar night.

“This confirms that Odyssey has ceased operations forever, making history the first commercial lunar module to land on the Moon,” Intuitive Machines wrote on social media X.

The Nova-C device landed on the moon on February 23 and was supposed to work for seven days. However, on March 1, experts decided to test its performance in conditions of extremely low temperatures in sleep mode. The mission with Nova is carried out by private Intuitive Machines and NASA. The contract value was $118 million.
