The Nizhny Novgorod military registration and enlistment office explained why it issued a summons to a wheelchair user

A resident of Nizhny Novgorod, who, due to a spinal injury, moves only in a wheelchair, was brought a summons for mobilization. Information about this previously appeared in the local Telegram channel.

In his interview to this resource, a disabled person from Nizhny Novgorod said that employees of the military registration and enlistment office of the Leninsky district came to him with a summons. They “ordered to come with things for further dispatch to the troops,” the man said. As it turned out, the lack of notification of disability was the reason for the visit of representatives of the military registration and enlistment office. A man in 2009-2010 served in the North Caucasus. But a few years ago he suffered a spinal injury, due to which he now moves in a wheelchair.

After a conversation with the guests, the Nizhny Novgorod citizen was asked to provide a certificate of disability to the military registration and enlistment office. “This incident occurred due to the fact that the military registration and enlistment office was not notified in a timely manner about the injury of this citizen,” the regional military registration and enlistment office commented on the incident. They asked to pay attention to the fact that in the end the summons was not handed to the man. “He is not subject to mobilization,” the state institution stressed.

According to the head of the profile committee of the lower house of the Russian parliament, in the coming days, acts are planned to defer partial mobilization for students of all universities, graduate students and people with advanced degrees.
