On the night of January 3–4, the temperature in Moscow dropped to –27.7 °C (in the Tushino area). This is the coldest night of this winter and 15 °C below the January climate norm, reported in Telegram employee of the Phobos weather center Evgeny Tishkovets.
Mr. Tishkovets reported that at the VDNKh base weather station the minimum temperature reached -27 °C at night, at Balchug – -25 °C, in Strogino – -25.6 °C. In the Moscow region, 30 degree frosts were recorded at the weather stations Volokolamsk (–30.2 °C), Shakhovskaya (–30.5 °C), Pushkino (–30.6 °C), Solnechnogorsk (–30.8 °C), Lugovaya (–31.3 °C), Dmitrov (–31.3 °C) and Klin (–32 °C), said a Phobos employee.
According to Mr. Tishkovets, there have not been such frosts in Moscow for 42 years. He said that in subsequent nights the cold will be reluctant to recede, and by January 9-10 the temperature background will return to the “climatic channel.”
