National Hockey League (NHL) Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said that if they win the league playoffs, Russian players will not be able to bring the Stanley Cup to Russia in the summer of 2023. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

The Stanley Cup is an annual hockey award given to the winner of the playoffs in the National Hockey League. The goblet is a silver vase almost 90 cm high with a massive cylindrical base. By tradition, each hockey player who won the trophy can bring it to his hometown for one day for demonstration.

The composition of the final of the current Stanley Cup was determined in the sixth match of its “western” semi-final. The Florida Panthers, for which Russian goaltender Sergey Bobrovsky plays, and the Vegas Golden Knights, whose striker is Russian Ivan Barbashev, will fight for the prize.

In February 2022, after the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine, the NHL stopped considering Russia as a possible venue for future matches involving league clubs. At the same time, Russian players can play for NHL clubs without restrictions.
