The memorandum regulating the transitions from the KHL to the NHL ceased to be valid 13 years after the adoption
The Memorandum of Understanding between the NHL and the KHL is no longer valid. This was told to TASS by Deputy Commissioner of the National Hockey League Bill Daly.
The agreement between the leagues has been in effect since 2010 and has been regularly renewed. This document was intended to regulate the transitions from the NHL to the KHL and vice versa. The main thing in it was the mutual respect of the leagues for the signed contracts with the players. Hockey players could not move to the NHL with a valid contract in the KHL. Also, athletes from the National Hockey League would have previously been denied a transition to the Continental Hockey League.
On Saturday, the KHL announced the registration of the contract of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov with the Central Army Sports Club. At the same time, it was previously reported that the athlete has a valid contract with the Philadelphia Flyers NHL clubs.
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly confirmed the existence of the contract and said that it extends to the 2023-24 season. At the same time, the hockey functionary said that the memorandum of understanding between the leagues had been broken, and nothing was preventing Fedotov from moving to CSKA.
