The Memorandum of Understanding between the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) has ceased to be valid. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly responded positively to the related question TASS.
The Memorandum of Understanding has been in effect since 2010. He assumed that the leagues would respect the players’ agreements with their clubs. This ruled out the possibility of players with active contracts moving from one league to another.
The question of the memorandum was raised after the incident with goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. The KHL announced the registration of a hockey player’s contact with CSKA.
