New one-year-old leopard named Mia in Land of the Leopard National Park
The new Far Eastern leopard – the rarest big cat in the world – has received a new name – Mia, “the unruly one.” According to the press service of the national park “Land of the Leopard”“, her ancestry is known up to the third generation.
She was one of 125 leopards to receive a new Leopard Guardian. It was a Russian company that, together with Russian Traveler magazine, organized a large scientific expedition to the “Land of the Leopard.”
The leopard is about a year old. She continues to be caught on camera with her mother and sister, but is already going out on her own to hunt. The whole family has already become the subject of photo shoots by the famous wildlife photographer Sergei Gorshkov.
Her mother is a female Leo 99F, which scientists have been observing since the cradle. And the “grandmother” and “grandfather” are Leo 7F Nerussa (one of the first to receive an identification number) and Leo 36M Armeets – a long-lived leopard, whose history can be traced back to 2011.
