The Netherlands join the ranks of countries planning to supply Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. Following the example of Germany, the Dutch government intends to purchase dozens of Leopard 1 tanks for the Ukrainian military, nos.nl reports.
A Swiss company is being considered as a potential arms supplier. However, to carry out this transaction, it is necessary to obtain permission from the Swiss government. It is worth noting that the leadership of Switzerland seeks to avoid involvement in conflicts with Russia, which may complicate the supply of tanks.
Recall that at the end of April, the Netherlands announced plans to purchase 14 Leopard 2-A4 battle tanks for Ukraine together with Denmark. The total value of this transaction is about 165 million euros, with the Netherlands and Denmark taking on half of this amount.
Earlier, Ukraine’s allies formed a coalition to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with more modern military equipment. As part of this initiative, a number of European countries and Canada decided to transfer German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, some of which have already been delivered.
