The Ministry of Defense reported details about the Ukrainian attack on the Belgorod region

Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published in his Telegram channel for updated information about today’s attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack the territory of the Belgorod region.

The military said that the Ukrainian group, which tried to break through in the direction of Shebekino early in the morning, consisted of 30 militants, four armored vehicles and four pickup trucks. After the strike of Russian artillery, the group, having lost one car and up to 10 people, retreated in the direction of Pletenevka.

Another group of 15 militants tried to enter the territory of the Russian Federation along the left bank of the Siversky Donets River in the direction of the villages of Gatishchevo and Novaya Tavolzhanka. This group was blown up in a minefield, and its remnants were destroyed by artillery fire, the Ministry of Defense notes.

At the same time, another group of 20 people, two armored fighting vehicles, advanced along the right bank of the Siversky Donets. It was stopped by units covering the state border of the Western Military District. The Russian Armed Forces, in turn, hit the enemy reserves in the areas of Ogurtsovo and Gatishche.

At six in the morning, the Ukrainian side made another attempt to break into Russian territory, using up to 70 people, five tanks, four armored combat vehicles, seven pickup trucks and one “Kamaz“. Russian troops with artillery and heavy missile systems forced the enemy to retreat in the direction of the village of Zhovtneve. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 12 militants and three vehicles. Russian aviation then delivered nine strikes against the retreating enemy and his reserves.

“In total, more than 50 Ukrainian terrorists, four armored combat vehicles, a combat vehicle of the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system, one pickup truck were destroyed on the border territory from Ukraine,” the Ministry of Defense concluded.

The Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov on June 1 announced massive shelling of the territory of the region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The city of Shebekino is under incessant fire, he noted: at midnight, at 3:40 and at 5:15 in the morning, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired from the “Grad” on the center and outskirts of the city.

The Ministry of Defense said that the Russian Armed Forces prevented an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to commit a terrorist attack near the city of Shebekino. On May 31, Governor Gladkov announced the evacuation of children from the Shebekinsky and Grayvoronsky districts.

According to doctors, as a result of today’s shelling of the Belgorod region, 11 residents of the region needed hospitalization. From midnight to 2:30 p.m., 11 people (10 from Shebekino) were admitted to the hospital, four are in serious condition in the intensive care unit. One is undergoing surgery. All the victims had mine-explosive injuries of varying severity.
