The most expensive medicine purchased in Russia at the expense of the budget costs about 26 million rubles

The list of the most expensive drugs purchased by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and its subordinate organizations has become known. All of them are intended for the treatment of rare diseases, mostly of a hereditary nature.

According to the results of ten months of 2022, Luxturna became the most expensive drug purchased in Russia. This is reported RBC with reference to the information of the marketing agency DSM Group. This drug is prescribed for gene therapy of hereditary retinal dystrophy. The cost of one pack of Luxturna was 25.99 million rubles. In total, seven packages of the drug were purchased for a total amount of 181.9 million rubles.

The price of other medicines included in the top 10 in terms of cost is incomparably lower. Nevertheless, it is impossible for a person with an average income to buy them on their own.

Thus, the Strensik drug was purchased for 6 million rubles and 3 million rubles per package, depending on the dosage. It is necessary in the treatment of such an orphan disease as hypophosphatasia, in which there is a violation of bone formation. In total, 361 packages were purchased for 1.7 billion rubles.

The drug “Spinraza”, necessary for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), cost 4.7 million rubles per package. By the way, this drug became the leader in terms of purchases – in total, 1,000 packages of Spinraza were purchased for budget funds. But the most expensive drug in the world, the drug Zolgensma, which helps with SMA, but costs more than 2 million US dollars, apparently, was not purchased in Russia this year.

The Brineira drug, which is needed to treat the deadly Batten disease or childhood neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, cost 3.4 million rubles and 2.7 million rubles per package, depending on the dosage.

Translarna, an agent for the treatment of malignant muscular dystrophy of Duchenne, cost 3.1 million rubles each. for packing.

One package of Trikafta, which is intended for targeted therapy of patients with cystic fibrosis, cost an average of 2.1 million rubles. Another drug used for this disease, Simdeco, cost 1.9 million rubles per pack.

And the drug “Xospata”, used in acute myeloid leukemia, was purchased at 2 million rubles per package.

RBC clarified that the list did not include purchases made by the Krug Dobra government fund, which helps to provide children under the age of 18 with expensive medicines.
