The Moscow Ombudsman visited Trepova and Gershkovich in the pre-trial detention center

In an interview with RIA Novosti, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Moscow, Tatyana Potyaeva, spoke about her visits to pre-trial detention centers and involvement in high-profile cases this year. She noted that she visited Daria Trepova, a defendant in the case of a terrorist attack in a St. Petersburg cafe, which resulted in the death of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky, and Evan Gershkovich, who was arrested on charges of espionage. Potyaeva emphasized that these people did not complain about their conditions of detention, including food and medical care.

She also noted that this year she visited various pre-trial detention centers in Moscow, including several return visits. US Ambassador Lynn Marie Tracy confirmed that Russia provided regular access to prisoners.

Let us note that Daria Trepova was part of an organized group whose task was to carry out a terrorist attack with the aim of destabilizing government agencies and ending the SVO. She presented herself under a false name and participated in patriotic events in order to gain the trust of military commander Maxim Fomin (Vladlen Tatarsky), to whom she handed over an improvised explosive device in a cafe in St. Petersburg. As a result of the terrorist attack, a military correspondent was killed, and another 52 participants in the event were injured.

Evan Gershkovich was detained on charges of espionage for the United States. The Russian FSB reported that he was collecting information about the activities of one of the enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex. Gershkovich was arrested by the court for two months.
