The Moscow City Court softened the measure of restraint for the rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka) Sergei Zuev.
“The court granted the investigator’s petition to change the measure of restraint,” the court said. House arrest was replaced with a ban on certain activities.
Zuev is a defendant in a fraud case in which he is involved with ex-Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova. Rakovoy earlier also softened the measure of restraint, she was released from jail.
It was reported that the defendants pleaded guilty and paid off the damage in the amount of more than 65 million rubles.
Rakova was accused of fraud with state contracts in the field of education, which were concluded back in 2019. Among them is the Teacher of the Year project. She is also accused of organizing fictitious employment at the RANEPA.
