In response to the warning of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) “about the threat to the safety of flights by aircraft of Russian airlines”, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said that the safety of flights on aircraft of Russian airlines is provided at a high level and meets all international standards.
“ICAO information does not correspond to the actual state of affairs,” the ministry said.
They explained that ICAO’s doubts arose as a result of the so-called “double” registration of aircraft. However, maintenance and control over maintaining the airworthiness of the re-registered aircraft continues to be carried out under the leadership of the Federal Air Transport Agency in accordance with the Federal Aviation Rules.
The safety of the aircraft used by Russian carriers is ensured at a high level and complies with international standards, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation stressed.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport offered Russian airlines to buy aircraft from foreign lessors at the expense of the National Welfare Fund. Airlines can receive funds from the fund for 15 years at 1.5%. This will allow them to resolve the issue with flights to countries that oppose dual registration.
