Fireworks in honor of the 85th anniversary of the Novosibirsk region canceled due to military operation

Andrey Travnikov, the governor of the Novosibirsk region, has decided to cancel fireworks in honor of the region’s 85th anniversary because of its “irrelevance” against the backdrop of hostilities in Ukraine. According to the Novosibirsk governor, the fireworks will be launched after the Ukrainian military leaves the Donbass.

“As for the fireworks, after all, salute is a symbolic action, and we’d better fire a salute when there is a serious reason for this. That’s when we finally clean out the Ukronazis from the Donbass, that’s when we shoot. Therefore, there will be no fireworks this year,” the governor said, his words are quoted in Telegram “Novosibir”.

However, the festive events will not be canceled, said Mr. Travnikov, as they contribute to the unity of the residents. “Some rallying, unification, support for each other – it is necessary not only in the Donbass, but also here,” the Novosibirsk governor believes.

Fireworks due to hostilities were canceled in Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh, Saratov, Elista, Sovetsk, Zvenigorod, Balashov, Chernyakhovsk, Stavropol and Kislovodsk. Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev declaredthat salute on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the researcher of the Far East Vladimir Arsenyev will be postponed until the capture of Odessa. Deputy Sergei Mironov proposed to cancel the fireworks in honor of the 875th anniversary of Moscow because of the fighting in Ukraine.
