The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has denied information about a multiple increase in taxi prices throughout the country. According to the press service of the department, in most regions the cost of the service remained at the same level.
A message from the Ministry of Transport says that in most Russian regions, taxi prices have not changed. In some regions, according to the ministry, there was a slight increase of 1 to 5%, due to the start of the school year and the return of the population from vacation. At the same time, the ministry indicated that with the assistance of regional authorities, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and carriers, the situation with taxi prices in individual regions will be analyzed.
The Ministry of Transport also noted that in some regions, for example, in the Primorsky Territory, the average fare for a trip decreased by 7%, while in the Omsk region, on the contrary, a high increase in the average fare was noted. The department explains this kind of “abnormal indicators” by artificial excitement or other factors.
