The Russian Ministry of Sports proposed to hold part of the competition program of the World Friendship Games in Minsk. This was announced by the head of the department Oleg Matytsin. He noted that the Russian side is interested in Minsk’s partnership within the project. The World Friendship Games will be held from September 15 to 29, 2024.
“We are interested in Minsk being one of the partners of this project. Our proposals have been formulated by government leaders, and in the future we will submit them for approval to the presidents of our countries,” said Mr. Matytsin at a meeting of the boards of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and Belarus (quote from TASS).
October 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on holding the World Friendship Games in 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at the plenary session of the “Russia is a Sports Power” forum that about 5.5 thousand athletes will take part in the games. The total prize fund will be 4.6 billion rubles.
