The Ministry of Justice recognized GlobalGiving and branches of the Free Russia Foundation as undesirable

The Ministry of Justice introduced registry unwanted organizations, the charitable resource GlobalGiving Foundation, as well as two organizations from Germany – Free Russia Berlin and Free Russia North Rhine-Westphalia. All three organizations were added to the undesirable list on January 26. Interfax was the first to draw attention to their inclusion in the register.
GlobalGiving is an online resource that brings together philanthropists and public organizations from developing countries. Using the resource, a person can donate any amount to the implementation of projects related to health protection, environmental care, education, etc. You can donate money to the resource using bank shares, checks, PayPal and stock transfer. According to the organization’s website, GlobalGiving is funded by interest taken from each donation of 5-12%. The project headquarters is located in Washington.

It was founded by a group of Russian emigrants who left for the United States. The foundation’s headquarters is in Washington. The organization’s offices are also located in the Czech Republic, Georgia and Ukraine. “We provide actionable analysis and diverse expertise to decision makers in Europe, the United States and Canada to support smarter and more sustainable Russia policies,” the foundation says on its website.
