Provided that none of the newlyweds is in jail

The Ministry of Justice of Russia proposes to allow registration of marriages in multifunctional centers for the provision of state and municipal services (MFC) “My Documents”. Today, a draft federal law proposing amendments to the Family Code and the Law “On Acts of Civil Status” was submitted for public discussion on the portal of regulatory legal acts.

The bill provides for the transfer of another function of the Civil Registry Office to the MFC. Let us remind you that today in the “My Documents” centers you can obtain a birth certificate (except for cases when the issue of registering paternity is being considered in parallel) and a death certificate. When establishing this rule, legislators proceeded from the fact that birth and death are the simplest and most indisputable types of civil status acts. This scheme simplifies life for both ordinary citizens and civil registry office employees.

According to the authors of the draft new law, such cases include marriage registration. It will be possible to exchange rings at the MFC in all cases, with the exception of cases of marriage in a solemn ceremony, marriage at home, in a medical or other organization, marriage with a person in custody or serving a sentence in prison. Everything else is possible.
