The Ministry of Justice excluded the coordinator of the Oryol “Voice” Katkova from the list of foreign agents

The Ministry of Justice excluded from the list of foreign agents Veronika Katkova, the coordinator of the Orel movement “Voice” (recognized as a foreign agent). The column “date of the decision on the exclusion” indicates February 28, 2023 (.pdf). The SOTA project was the first to notice the changes in the registry.

Veronika Katkova was included in the list of foreign agents on September 29, 2021. According to SOTA, she was included in the register for 5,445 rubles. from the League of Voters (recognized as a foreign agent), transferred on February 3, 2020. At the same time, the League of Voters was recognized as a foreign agent only on October 28, 2020 – that is, eight months after Ms. Katkova received the transfer.

Together with Veronika Katkova, on September 29, 2021, the editor-in-chief of Mediazona Sergei Smirnov and its publisher Pyotr Verzilov, Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, as well as the human rights project OVD-Info were recognized as foreign agents.

This is not the first time that Golos activists have been excluded from the register of foreign agents. In October 2022, from the register of foreign agents was excluded Vitaliy Kovin, activist of the “Voice” movement, in August of the same year – coordinator “Voices” by Polina Kostyleva, in May – coordinator “Voices” from Yekaterinburg by Alexander Grezev, as well as his colleagues Vladimir Zhilkin, Alexander Lyutov and Ilya Pigalkin, in April – co-founder “Voices” and coordinator Arkady Lyubarev and Lyudmila Kuzmina.

“Voice” is an all-Russian public movement in defense of the rights of voters. The movement is engaged in election observation in Russia, maps violations and attracts experts to analyze the vote. Ministry of Justice acknowledged his foreign agent in August 2021.
