The “Team Against Torture” (CPT; former “Committee Against Torture”, which was recognized as a foreign agent and self-liquidated) received a notification from the Ministry of Justice that it was included in the list of NPOs-foreign agents. According to the CPT, changes to the list were made by the department on August 23. The team intends to appeal the decision of the Ministry of Justice and promised to continue working.
In the register of foreign agents, the organization is at number 399 (there are now 664 points in total). It is labeled “Committee Against Torture/Team Against Torture”.
In 2015, the Ministry of Justice recognized the “Committee against Torture” as an NGO-foreign agent. Instead of this organization, a “Committee for the Prevention of Torture” was created, which was recognized as a foreign agent in 2016. The organization continued to work under the old name, but without a legal entity, and in 2022 the Ministry of Justice entered the “Committee against Torture” into the register of unregistered NCOs-foreign agents.
In April, in the Pyatigorsk branch of the “Team Against Torture” passed search, which its employees associated with the human rights activities of the organization. In April, searches were also carried out in Nizhny Novgorod office and at the KPP lawyers, in May – in Krasnodar team branch.
