The Ministry of Justice asks to liquidate the conservative organization “Ivan Chai”

The Russian Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit to liquidate the regional organization “Ivan Chai,” which advocates traditional family values. The organization reported that an unscheduled inspection had begun against it.

The Ministry of Justice’s claim against the organization, as indicated in the electronic database cases of the Moscow City Court, registered on November 20. The grounds for liquidation are not indicated in the case materials. Pre-trial preparation will take place on December 18.

IN Telegram channel the organization reported that the Ministry of Justice organized an unscheduled inspection after appeals from MGIMO Vice-Rector Sergei Shitkov and Children’s Ombudsman of the Moscow Region Ksenia Mishonova. Based on its results, the ministry, as indicated in the material, considered that the organization’s activities contradict the charter and are carried out in violation of territorial subordination.

The organization’s message states that among examples of violations, the Ministry of Justice names speeches in defense of the Trubetskoy Estate park, where “a school was built with violations under the auspices of MGIMO,” and speeches at an event in Sevastopol. In 2021, “Ivan Chai” turned to the prosecutor’s office with a request to check the performer Instasamka for drug propaganda after her concert in Yekaterinburg (the Ministry of Justice also called it a violation of territorial subordination).

“Just now at the congress of the World Russian People’s Council with the participation of the President and the Patriarch, all theses that are reflected in the activities of the organization were voiced. Even liberals confirm this. Ministry of Justice for whom? – said the message from Ivan Chaya. The organization’s website states that Ivan Chai stands for “restoring moral guidelines.” Its head from 2017 to 2020 was a member of the Commission for Support of Family, Motherhood and Childhood of the Public Chamber.
