The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation wants to begin fingerprinting and photographing migrants at Moscow airports in the near future, said Valentina Kazakova, head of the department’s main department for migration issues. From 2021, migrant workers are required to undergo fingerprint registration and photographing within one to three months, depending on the category.
“Unfortunately, we don’t do fingerprinting at the border yet, but taking into account the proposals of the Moscow government, I think we will begin conducting this experiment in the near future. When will people be fingerprinted and photographed at every airport in the Moscow air hub? And those “changers”, as we call them, that is, persons who change their installation data, will not be able to enter the territory of the Russian Federation,” said Mrs. Kazakova at the plenary session of the IV All-Russian Forum “Peoples of Russia – National Policy: The Modern Stage” (quoted from TASS).
According to the head of the department, there are about 6.5 foreigners in Russia. 4 million of them underwent fingerprinting. As a result of “such total fingerprinting,” more than 2 thousand crimes were solved.
