Fraudsters are increasingly using “State Services” for their scams, Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Sofya Chulkova, investigator of the Main Investigation Department of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
At the same time, according to her, the old tactics of calling under the guise of “bank security services” or “law enforcement officers” have been preserved.
“But new criminal schemes have also emerged: fraud under the guise of providing public services allegedly through the appropriate portal is now gaining momentum,” Chulkova said.
According to her, calls and messages from scammers may display the logo of the Gosuslug service. At the same time, this trick is in fact standard phishing, when the victim is asked to follow a link, after which the attackers receive his personal data and funds. Chulkova recalled that even if a message was received from the public services portal, it is always of a notification nature and no action is required.
