Now the expert council at the Ministry of Industry and Trade is dealing with the issue of classifying equipment as domestic. A source in the electronics market notes that “due to the opacity of the assessment”, foreign equipment “with inverted nameplates” could be included in the register. The Ministry of Industry and Trade wants to solve the problem of classifying telecom equipment as Russian from 2021, the source added.
The ministry expressed hope that the new points system would encourage manufacturers to “increase the level of localization of production” in Russia.
