The Ministry of Health reported that the lives of those wounded in the shooting in Bryansk are not in danger

Assistant to the Minister of Health Alexey Kuznetsov said that the lives of the five eighth-graders injured in the shooting at the Bryansk gymnasium are not in danger. The condition of one student is serious, the rest are of moderate severity.

“The teenagers injured in Bryansk are receiving the necessary treatment, their lives are not in danger… One of the victims is already undergoing surgery,” said Alexey Kuznetsov (quoted by TASS). Consultations are being conducted with federal clinics and the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health. Help for the victims is under the personal control of the head of the department, Mikhail Murashko.

As TASS reported with reference to the emergency departments of surgery at city and regional children’s hospitals, the boy, who is in serious condition, was injured in his shoulder and knee. He is now in intensive care. The rest of the injured schoolchildren had injuries to their shoulders, backs, and legs.

This morning, a 14-year-old student from gymnasium No. 5 walked into biology class with her father’s Bekas-3 pump-action shotgun. The weapon was hidden in a tube; the metal detector frame did not work on it. Upon entering the classroom, the girl opened fire. She killed a classmate, wounded five others, and committed suicide. The girl also had a hunting knife with her.

“Moskovsky Komsomolets” with reference to the class teacher reportedthat the reason could have been a conflict between the girl and her classmates. The girls’ parents were called to the school regarding this issue, but, according to the teacher, the conflict was resolved. A criminal case of murder was opened (Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
