The Ministry of Health proposed to abandon the mass vaccination against coronavirus

Ministry of Health offered amend its order of December 6, 2021 on the National Immunization Schedule. The changes relate to the coronavirus: it is proposed to switch from mass vaccination against this infection to vaccination of vulnerable categories of citizens. Revaccination against coronavirus is proposed to be carried out no earlier than one year after the previous vaccination. The changes should come into force on April 1, 2024 and will be valid until March 1, 2030.
“In connection with the formation of a high level of collective immunity against the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 and the stabilization of the epidemic situation associated with the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the Russian Federation, it is advisable to switch from mass vaccination to vaccination of vulnerable categories of citizens,” the explanatory note says.
The category of citizens subject to mandatory vaccination will include:
- persons over 18 years of age who have not previously been ill and / or not vaccinated against a new coronavirus infection COVID-19;
- persons aged 60 and over;
- persons with chronic diseases, including diseases of the bronchopulmonary system, tuberculosis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and obesity;
- persons with primary or secondary immunodeficiencies, including HIV infection, autoimmune diseases, oncological / oncohematological diseases.
The following are now required to be vaccinated:
Level 1 Priority:
- persons aged 60 and over;
adults working in certain professions and positions:
- employees of medical, educational organizations, social service organizations and multifunctional centers;
- persons living in social service organizations;
- persons with chronic diseases, including diseases of the bronchopulmonary system, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and obesity;
- citizens living in cities with a population of 1 million or more.
Level 2 priority:
adults working in certain professions and positions:
- employees of transport and energy organizations, employees of law enforcement agencies, state control agencies at checkpoints across the state border;
- persons working on a rotational basis;
- volunteers;
- military personnel;
- employees of organizations providing services.
Level 3 Priority:
- state civil and municipal employees;
- students in professional educational organizations and educational institutions of higher education over 18 years old;
- persons subject to conscription for military service.
- Children from 12 to 17 years old (inclusive) (vaccination is carried out voluntarily with a written application from one of the parents (or other legal representative).
On January 30, 2020, due to the outbreak of the epidemic, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern. On March 11, 2020, the epidemic was declared a pandemic. 5 May 2023 WHO canceled COVID-19 pandemic status.
