Freelance specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health for infectious diseases Vladimir Chulanov said “RIA News”that the agency has not recorded deaths among those vaccinated less than six months ago. Most of those who died from coronavirus in Russia were not vaccinated in a timely manner, added Mr. Chulanov.

“An analysis of the case histories of patients with COVID-19 in Russia showed that the vast majority of the dead were not revaccinated in a timely manner. For all the deceased, more than eight months have passed since the last vaccination. At the same time, among patients vaccinated less than 6 months ago, no deaths from COVID-19 were observed, ”the employee of the Ministry of Health told the agency.

According to Mr. Chulanov, numerous studies have shown that timely revaccination against COVID-19 reduces the risk of severe illness and death. Russian vaccines remain effective against the new omicron coronavirus variant and its sub-variants BQ1.1 (Cerberus) and XBB1.5 (Kraken), the expert added. The average age of people who died from the coronavirus was 76 years old, half of them had at least one chronic disease, Mr. Chulanov added. This fact, he says, proves the importance of revaccination for the elderly.
