The capital’s headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations issued an emergency warning about 30-degree frost in Moscow. The department clarified that thermometers could drop to -30 in some places in the capital in the coming hours.
“According to forecasts from Roshydromet employees, severe frost of -30 degrees Celsius is expected in places in Moscow at night and in the morning on January 13,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified.
The Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations urged people to dress according to the weather, give preference to multi-layered clothing and keep dry shoes. The department also recommended moving in the cold and not leaving your cheeks, nose and ears, fingers and ankles exposed, as well as refraining from hot tea and a warm shower immediately after coming from the street, as this will create additional stress on the cardiovascular system. The warning states that the body needs 20-30 minutes to adapt to room temperature.
Rescuers shared recommendations for drivers. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, you need to make sure your car is in good condition, and also have a charged phone, warm clothes and a supply of fuel with you when leaving home.
According to the latest data from the VDNKh weather station, the air in Moscow cooled to -18.9 degrees at midnight. In Klin, in the north of the Moscow region, 70 kilometers from the capital, thermometers showed -28.7.
The coldest day of winter in Moscow so far is January 4th. Then the minimum temperature in the metropolis was -27 degrees.
