The peak of the flood in Kurgan will occur on April 14-15. The regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation warned about this on Thursday, April 11.

Before this, the governor of the Kurgan region, Vadim Shumkov, told Russian President Vladimir Putin that work was underway in the region to strengthen the dam in the regional capital over a distance of 30 kilometers. The task is to raise its level from 8-10 to 11 or more meters in the most dangerous areas.

The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, who personally flew around the regions most affected by the rampant disaster, explained what caused such heavy floods. The minister clarified that more than 10 thousand residential buildings are currently flooded in the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the Kazakh authorities denied the words of the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Ural Federal District, Vladimir Yakushev, that the flood situation in the regions of Russia was extremely unfavorable, including due to the actions of neighboring Kazakhstan.
