The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the section of the dam on the Ural River in Orsk that was broken by floods has been completely restored. Water stopped flowing to residential areas of the city.

How reports The press service of the department, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov and the presidential envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov personally checked the work on restoring the protective dam and inspected the structure.

“The city has carried out a number of engineering measures to quickly clear flooded areas. Water pumping continues using motor pumps and special equipment,” reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Rescuers use the Shkval pump-hose complex, which is capable of pumping out 350 liters of water per second.

Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that in Orsk, water had left 791 buildings over the past 24 hours. 5,182 houses remain flooded. The level of the Ural River in the Orsk region decreased by 30 cm and amounted to 798 cm.

In Orenburg, water level overnight increased up to 1120 cm, another 361 houses and 900 household plots were flooded. The deputy head of the city said that the peak of the flood in the city is expected today, April 12. Short-term power outages are expected in several areas due to rising waters. In the Kurgan region, the Tobol River rose up to 399 cm, the Ministry of Emergency Situations expects flooding of 62 settlements.
