The Ministry of Education and Science recommended universities to reduce the cost of education for veterans and children of NWO participants

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation recommended that universities provide students who have the status of a participant in a military operation, as well as students whose parents are participating in a military operation, with a number of targeted benefits, the press service of the ministry said. The list was sent by the Ministry of Education and Science to all Russian universities.
The Ministry of Education calls the payment of a state social stipend, which is due to all full-time students studying on a budget, upon providing a certificate of a combat veteran, as a priority measure by the Ministry of Education and Science. Other support measures include:
- reducing the cost of education;
- providing installment payment for educational services;
- provision of material assistance;
- priority provision of a place in a hostel;
- exemption from the fee for a place in a hostel (or its reduction).
Any other support measures are at the discretion of specific universities, the press service added.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin signed amendments in the Federal Law “On Education”, according to which quotas were created for the children of participants in the military operation in Ukraine for admission to higher educational institutions. Universities must allocate 10% of the total number of budget places for such students. Without entrance tests (with the exception of a creative competition or professional tests), applicants enter if a combatant is killed or injured. In May, the United Russia working group on the special military operation in Ukraine introduced a single standard of regional support measures for combatants and their families – the list includes 19 support measures (from exemption of fees for kindergartens to free parking space).
