The Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education has created a working group to write the history of the special military operation in Ukraine. The Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences has prepared a classifier of sources necessary for the work. This was announced by the director of the institute, Yuri Petrov.
“I think that soon we will move from the classifier directly to collecting materials and writing the history itself,” Mr. Petrov said at a round table meeting of the Russian Historical Society (quote from TASS). The work is being carried out under the leadership of Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science Konstantin Mogilevsky.
In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Defense and the Russian Academy of Sciences to submit proposals for organizing a study of the history of the special operation. By December 30, the president also ordered a report on the creation of museums dedicated to the military conflict in Ukraine.
Since the new school year, a history textbook for high school with chapters about the special operation has appeared in Russian schools. In particular, the last chapter of the textbook is devoted to the conflict: “Russia today. Special military operation.” It talks about the causes of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the tactics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and describes short biographies of the participants in the special operation.
