In May, the Ministry of Education and Science will publish a unified register of domestic software (software) for use in education, said Deputy Head of the Ministry Daria Kiryanova at the first All-Russian conference “Digitalization of Higher Education: Technologies for the University of the Future”.

“We will have some model that we are going to publish in May on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science – this will be a software registry that will be updated. This is Russian software that should solve some problems. We will start with operating systems for the activities of universities and other scientific organizations,” she said.

According to Kiryanova, the ministry “claims to be” a software verifier. After passing this procedure, it will be placed in the register on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science. “The main sign by which software will get there is that a company that develops a software product must have an academic license. The license should be non-market, with a significant discount for the academy,” she added.

On February 17, Kiryanova reported that before the start of the special operation in Ukraine, about 80% of all software licenses in Russian universities were foreign. According to her, domestic software has appeared, but it solves the tasks “very narrowly.”

The Ministry of Education and Science began to use the Gostekh platform, which is fully implemented on a domestic software and hardware solution. The platform should help create services for universities that they can use remotely, says Kiryanova.
