The Ministry of Economy did not approve the bill on the right for the security forces to shoot down any drones – Kommersant

The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, said that the Russian Ministry of Economic Development did not support a bill developed with the participation of a parliamentarian, which allows the security forces to “stop the movement” of any drones. According to the Ministry of Economy, the document is “premature” and needs to be finalized.

“Despite a series of terrorist attacks and raids using drones, the Ministry of Economic Development opposed our bill on the right of the security forces to stop the movement of drones in all areas,” Mr. Khinshtein wrote in his Telegram channel, referring to the official response of the Deputy Minister of Economy Maxim Kolesnikov. He believes that first in Russia it is necessary to legally regulate the unmanned industry itself, together with robotics, and only then move on to countering drones and determining who has the right to shoot them down.

The State Duma deputy clarified that all federal departments, in addition to the Ministry of Economy, supported the draft law, since “its need in the conditions of the SVO is obvious.”

Formerly Alexander Khinshtein addressed to the Minister of Transport of Russia Vitaly Savelyev and the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko with a request to introduce a temporary moratorium on the use of drones in Russia. According to him, in the context of the military operation in Ukraine, drones “represent an increased danger.” There has been no response to this appeal by the parliamentarian.
