The Ministry of Defense of Poland will send another thousand troops to the border with Belarus

The Polish Ministry of Defense will send a thousand troops to the Polish-Belarusian border at the request of the country’s border service. This was reported in the press service of the department.

“In connection with the dynamic situation on the Polish-Belarusian border and the request of the commandant of the border service to increase participation in border protection, the Minister of National Defense instructed to fulfill the request and send additional troops allocated to patrol the Polish-Belarusian border and participating in the Safe Podlasie operation ( Podlaskie Voivodeship of Poland – ed.),” the message said (cit. according to RIA Novosti).

On August 7, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Poland Maciej Wonsik said that the border service of the republic requested 1000 reinforcements to the border with Belarus. After the arrival of new military personnel, the number of Polish soldiers on the border will be 3,000 people.

August 5 Warsaw accused fighters of PMC “Wagner” in an attempt to penetrate the territory of Poland. Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky also added that Poland is sending more troops to the border and is considering any steps that will be necessary to protect the territory, including the complete closure of the border.

On the evening of August 1, the Ministry of National Defense of Poland announced that two Belarusian helicopters during exercises near the village of Belovezha violated airspace of the country. After the incident, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak convened a meeting of the National Security Committee and ordered an increase in the number of soldiers on the border and the allocation of additional forces, including combat helicopters.

In the Ministry of Defense of Belarus declaredthat the accusations of violating the border of Poland by the Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense Forces are far-fetched and were made by the Polish military-political leadership to justify the build-up of forces and means near the Belarusian border. Commenting on the situation with the Belarusian pilots, press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov notedthat “the Poles themselves confirmed that this fact of violation was not recorded on the radars.”
