Colonel McGregor: US does not want peace in Ukraine as it would be an admission of failure

Former Pentagon officer Colonel Douglas McGregor, in an interview with the Judging Freedom YouTube channel, said that the US authorities did not intend to discuss a possible peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, since such a step would be perceived as an admission of defeat in the conflict.
According to McGregor, at the beginning of the conflict, many wanted the destruction of Russia, viewing it as a backward and vulnerable country. Now the question arises how it will be possible to abandon this position and admit that the assessments are wrong. The Colonel believes that such a move is impossible.
Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that Kyiv was not considering the possibility of negotiations with Moscow. He believes that any attempt to negotiate a ceasefire will be seen as a concession and means submission to Russia.
At the same time, the Kremlin believes that so far there are no necessary prerequisites for a transition to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The main priority for Russia remains the achievement of the goals of the special operation, and so far this can be done only through military intervention.
